SkillBridge lets you train full-time at a civilian employer during your last months in uniform, while you keep your military pay and benefits. It is how a lot of veterans land their first civilian role before they even separate.

Check your window

You can start in your last 180 days of service, after at least 180 continuous days on active duty. Begin looking 6 to 9 months out so you have time to line up a host.

Find a host employer

Add your state above and this tool shows employers near you that hold DoD SkillBridge agreements. Those are companies you can apply to directly, no third party in between.

Get command approval

Your unit commander has to authorize it, and approval is mission-dependent. Bring the opportunity to your chain early so there is time to plan around your duties.

Train, and aim for the offer

You work the role for up to 180 days on your military pay. Many SkillBridge spots are built to convert to a full-time offer if it is a fit, so treat it like a long interview.
